New Day

I bath my feet in the wet grass of the morning
The new sun gifting warm to my tired body
Droplets of shining dew sparkle on the flowers
Creating a dazzle of rainbows across the plain

The web of spider shines in beaded patterns
Spreading the colors from each of sun’s rays
I glimpse the red of the mocking bird’s wing
Hear the first notes of the new song he sings

The world stirs and awakes, the day life returned
Night walkers all gone, tucked tight in their beds
I remember last evening, an old man by the fire
But walking in this glory I find I’m young again

And I give thanks…..
