Night Lament

Thwarted of restful sleep, cast from comfort bed
I walk out into twilight’s realm of night
Watching moonbeams dance, casting shimmering trail
So bright, yet so cold, so frail
For the space of a moment gleaming surreal
Liken hoarfrost clinging to the margin of my dreams

I raise my eyes, to the skies above
Yon splendid moon, stare down
My mind goes back, to the dreams of you
And we should yet be……
