Oh Great Spirit,
You whose voice I hear in the winds
You whose breath gives life to everyone,
Hear my plea.
I come humbly to you as one of your many children
I am weak, am small; I need your wisdom and your strength.
Let me walk in beauty, rejoicing at the treasures you give each day
Make my eyes ever behold wonders of the gold and red sunsets.
Make my hands always respect the things you have made,
And make my ears sharp so I may ever hear your voice.
Make me wise, so that I may understand what you have taught my people
Wise to heed lessons you have hidden in each leaf, tree, and rock.
I implore you give wisdom and strength,
Not to be superior to my brothers, but to be able to fight my greatest enemy
I will be ever ready to come before you with clean hands and a straight eye,
For as life ebbs slowly away, as a fading sunset at end of day
My spirit may return to you without shame…
