Precious Gift

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.
The traveler left rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But, a few days later, he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said. “I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this stone.”
Sometimes it’s not the wealth you have but what’s inside you that others need.

Quote of Wisdom

A human being is part of the whole, called by us universe … We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.

Obligations of the True Path Walkers

To bring back the natural harmony that humans once enjoyed.
To save the planet from present practices of destruction.
To find and re-employ real truth.
To promote true balance between both genders.
To share and be less materialistic.
To become rid of prejudice.
To learn to be related.
To be kind to animals and take no more than we need.
To play with one’s children and love each equally and fairly.
To be brave and courageous, enough so,
to take a stand and make a commitment.
To understand what Generations Unborn really means.
To accept the Great Mystery
in order to end foolish argument over religion.

The Ancient One

Old Native American Lore

The Ancient One sat in the shade of his tree in front of his cave.
Red People came to him and he said to Red People, “Tell me your vision.” And Red People answered, “The elders have told us to pray in this manner, and that manner, and it is important That only we pray as we have been taught for this has been handed down to us by the elders.”

“Hmmmm,” said the Ancient One.

Then Black People came to him and he said to Black People, “Tell me your vision.” And Black People answered, “Our mothers have said to go to this building and that building and pray in this manner and that manner. And our fathers have said to bow in this manner and that manner when we pray. And it is important that we do only this when we pray.”

“Hmmmm,” said the Ancient One.

Then Yellow People came to him and he said to Yellow People, “Tell me your vision.” And Yellow People answered, “Our teachers have told us to sit in this manner and that manner and to say this thing and that thing when we pray. And it is important that we do only this when we pray.”

“Hmmmm,” said the Ancient One.

Then White People came to him and he said to White People, “Tell me your vision.” And White People answered, “Our Book has told us to pray in this way and that way and to do this thing and that thing, and it is very important that we do this when we pray.”

“Hmmmm,” said the Ancient One.

Then Ancient One spoke to the Earth and said, “Have you given the people a vision?” And the Earth said, “Yes, a special gift for each one, but the people were so busy speaking and arguing about which way is right they could not see the gift I gave each one of them.” And the Ancient One asked same question of Water and Fire and Air and got the same answer. Then the Ancient One asked Animal, and Bird, and Insect, and Tree, and Flower, and Sky, and Moon, and Sun, and Stars, and all of the other Spirits and each told him the same.

The Ancient One thought this was very sad. He called Red People, Black People, Yellow People, and White People to him and said to them. “The ways taught to you by your Elders, and your Mothers and Fathers, and Teachers, and Books are sacred. It is good that you respect those ways, for they are the ways of your ancestors. But the ancestors no longer walk on the Face of the Earth Mother. You have forgotten your own Vision. Your Vision is right for you but no one else. Now each of you must pray for your own Visions, and be still enough to see them, so you can follow the way of the heart.

It is a hard way. It is a good way.

Iron Eagle Dream

Drifting high on the swirling currents, I felt the chest muscles rippling as sweeping wings carried me aloft. Blood pumping through massive arteries bore oxygen gleaned from the rarefied air by powerful lungs. A furnace…an engine of infinite power and complexity, a man, a mount, and strangely something much more than all, the great Eagle soared effortlessly through the day.
Minor alterations, muscles tensed, sinews relaxed. A glance, subtle movements…and the flight changed. Almost randomly or at a whim, entire worlds slide by. Realities distort as the great bird plummets nearly to its destruction, only to scream in joyous ecstasy and climb back to the heights—simply to do it all over again.  It is chaos unleashed to any observing, but actually tightly, precisely controlled, a dance of intricate design, influenced only by the dancers, the flowing passion, and the stars above.

And then there’s the music…

The dance is accompanied by deep, glorious, intricate harmony that emanates from the power of the universe itself…or perhaps it comes from deep in the soul. There is very little difference between them at the moment.

Overwhelmed with the beauty and passion of it, so caught up in the gestalt, so absorbed by the music, I didn’t understand when the first ice-cold flash of pain threatened to spin me into unconsciousness. It happened so fast I wasn’t sure it was really even there.

The second slashing white-hot agony left absolutely no doubt.
