Art and Words to settle my mind
Another ‘someone’ asked me again, “How can you be so bright and happy all the time, with all that is ‘wrong’ with the world today?” I thought about it and hope that maybe this is a good way to answer both him and a few others. I hope this is the right spot on the boards for it.
Peace and Love,
You hear it all around you everyday
“There is so much wrong with the world.
There is no hope for tomorrow.
The people have lost their way.
We must war on all the bad.
There is no future for our youth.
No future for mankind!”
You have heard it so much that you believe it true.
Despair and foreboding fill you.
And hope fades, as anger grows.
You swear to make a difference.
You promise yourself to make the world better.
Heal the wounds, repair the damage, restore the balance.
You declare ‘war’ on the evil.
The war on terror, war on drugs, war on ‘them’, war on their ‘ways’.
Yet the days and years continue to pass by.
The great wheel turns and the problems seem to continue to grow.
To put the world right, we must first put the nation right.
To put the nation right, we must first put the family right.
And to put the family right, we must first put ourselves to order, Set our hearts right.
A good start would be a promise to yourself to be too calm for worry.
Worry brings fear and doubt, holding you back from what you can be.
Worry serves nothing more than to consume your resources and limit possibility.
Focus on what you can change, and let go of what you can’t.
Make yourself too noble for anger.
Anger only hurts the one who is angry.
Anger builds walls of pain, and promotes continuation of conflict.
Let your anger go and use the strength of it to hold to your connection with life, Spirit, and happiness. Find peace where others find war.
Be too strong for fear.
Fear is another weakness that stops us from working toward the good we all seek.
And what do we really have to fear? Pain? Death?
Holding to our connection to Spirit, to our knowledge of our place in the universe, the true balance of all things, and to where we come from and return to, holding to all of that, what is there to truly fear?
Put fear from you, and instead embrace life and the living of it. True happiness comes from fully enjoying the smallest of moments, and living in peace and happiness with all creation. Fear drives this away from you.
And finally, allow yourself to be too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
Do not ‘make war’ against a thing, but rather work toward happiness and a better future. No matter what is around you, no matter what others may be saying or doing to persuade you, simply hold to your own happiness and share that with others. Darkness only has the power over you that you allow. Hold to the happiness and embrace the joys of life. Allow yourself to love openly and freely, and to share that love with all of existence. Spread that love, happiness and joy all around you whenever you can, and you will find that the world will respond in kind.
Teach yourself these simple goals, and perhaps, and maybe in surprise, you will find that all those problems have somehow gone away, and your world is a much better place.
I feel her pain, know her struggles,
The burdens she carries weigh upon me,
I cry in seeing her tears run down her cheeks,
Hearing her silent calls for help, I must answer,
Desperately alone, all sadness, all her hopes lost,
I cannot stand aside, am driven to reach out,
Taking her hand I let her know someone cares,
As I help her rise I can feel her burdens now ease,
I can feel her heart begin to swell, hopes returning,
She begins to know the comfort I offer, no longer alone,
I make no demands, offer no judgments,
Offering only quiet words of encouragement,
Hugging her gently I can feel her pain begin to ease,
The light within her, so dimmed, now begins to shine,
A hint of a quiet smile graces her beautiful face once more,
With these simplest of gifts her soul fills the more,
An uncomplicated kindness is enough for her to live,
Once more she can face her tomorrows with anticipation,
She strides forth with confidence, knows she will be happy,
And my reward you may ask,
My own comfort in knowing I help,
In being true to myself, by being myself,
In some small way I made our worlds better,
By only giving understanding, sharing and care,
Giving kindness and love to my newest friend…
My dear friend,
Listen to me as I beg,
Simple words perhaps, but truth,
You are the strongest most loving soul I know,
So much you give, so much yet for you to be sharing,
Hold on tight to all of the loving blessings filling your life,
This tiniest of moment, the miracle within that tiny life holding you,
Know in you heart that your coming future will be wondrously sublime,
I know the deep emptiness within you from his sudden tragic absence,
He is crying to be from with you, but he’s crying more for your pain,
He needs to see your suffering end, needs your happiness returned,
As does that most special little soul resting close at your side,
Gather yourself up, embracing the beauty of being again,
Re-embrace the charms abundant encompassing you,
Feel his loving arms still holding you so close,
The passion never lost, for he travels as yet,
There are no ends, only changes of being,
Put trust in yourself, trust in him,
You are one in spirit’s bond,
Embrace the love of life,
Allow yourself to heal,
Allow yourself to be,
Once again whole,
Be you, Be…
To gift to all an open smile,
My little child nettling in my lap,
Streaks of red and amber, blossoming day,
Joyous sounds filling the air, my children at play,
As the star falls into the night, it brightens my world,
For healing my pain, an almost silent whisper of the winds,
In seeing a need in another, my must soul reach out to help,
Simplicity of silence breeds understanding, peace, love,
Non judgemental listening ear, building compassion,
Extending my hand, much love to share freely,
This the import part of a life of happiness,
But a small part of blessings held,
A glorious life to be lived,
And your part too,
So lucky I am,
Release hate and malice from your heart,
Embrace a manner of purest innocence,
Rid yourself of envy of another being,
Entertain the divine court of spirit,
Too many days are of wasted, empty time,
Busy chasing fancies and envisage,
Bed of dreams, ere pile up more,
Lift up thy head from slumber,
New morn sun, filling a misty blue sky,
Risen to the zenith, it shines for you,
Bliss within this light of beauty,
Meant to embrace, to bask,
A mystic paradise, waste not a moment,
Continue, this eternal path of love,
Whisper gentle words of thanks,
Clutch your gifted blessings,
Be the betterment of the world, live pure,
Not to preach rules, sole loving care,
Truly love all, judge not another,
Free to a liberty of thinking,
Heart filled with love, all beautiful delight,
Spread joy, respectful, sharing affection,
Share laughs, for then the spirit relaxes,
Faith is not prayer, faith is as lived,
Humanity is loving family,
Be infinitely patient, including to ourselves,
Learn love is more needed than peace,
Living in spirit, we are truly happy,
Let no man turn you against any,
Gift love & kindness, avoid giving penalty,
Hold a forgiving nature, set free hatred,
Live in moderation, waste not,
Burden comes from excess,
Struggles make you wise, thereby finding joy,
True life is not of the flesh but of the spirit,
Drink deeply of faith and certainty,
Look not at colours, but hearts,
Arts, sciences, crafts, herein our highest worship,
Impelled by the best motives, our will to service,
Pray that the abuser shall become amiable,
Use knowledge always to benefit others,
There is no one faith greater than any other,
there are only those that talk their faith,
and those that live it…
I use my voice for kindness,
My ears hear your cry for help,
My hands create new ways to aid,
My mind seeks to find the truth,
My heart is bursting with love,
How could it be I would ever think harshly about anyone’s life,
Most walking the same hard path I struggled along myself,
Not the exact path perhaps, yet just as lost to their pain,
I have a need to help those who still struggle, those hurting,
With simple understanding, I can be an inspiration of hope,
Some paths are longer, more barriers to break through,
Some paths are longer than others, with more hills to climb.
Overwhelmed by my grief,
A friend reaches out in understanding,
Reminds me though we do not get over grief,
We can learn to live a new life, a life with our grief
We can rebuild our lives to include happiness and love,
And we will, if nothing else than for the ones we have lost,
Because we know that’s what they would want for us.
And know that one day in our future,
We will again be rejoined,
