Drifting Memories

Art and Words to settle my mind

About Grief

Do not allow your heart to be locked away in grief. Everything you have ever lost will most certainly come back around. When least expected, perhaps in times of the most calm silence, you can hear the reassuring whispers of love dancing through the quiet. Standing out on the back porch, enjoying the early morning sun and the first of day’s ration of wonderful coffee, you can hear a lost loved one’s adorations drifting on the gentle morning breeze. That little sparrow landing on the rail brings you comfort in the knowledge that spirit is all around you, and that spirit itself can never end. During times of greatest struggle if you take a moment to refocus, calm and clear your mind, you will feel that loved one’s hand on your shoulder, bringing reassurance, and reinforcing your knowledge that no matter the challenge, you have the strength to meet the challenge. And in truth, it is very fulfilling to remember once more that the one your shared so much with, loved so deeply, can still be a part of your life. Nothing ever ends. Just as we were gifted with so much joy in our existence, so much love has filled our lives, we can know that our spirit can never be quenched, we may well change, but never end. The most wondrous part of our journey stretches out before us, and at some future time we will rejoin our loved ones and travel forward. Much Love, Namaste…

Path Home

Path Home

                Path Home

Waking through a dark misguided world,
Seems always up hill, ever a struggle to carry on,
Why always the difficult journey, this need to continue,

Like a child lost in the wilderness, I cry for help as I fall,
Here long gone my dreams, my hopes, my joyous soul,
This pitch-black wood weighs down my tired heart,
I so need this dark path come to an end,

Before me I spy a dim light shining down on my horizon,
What is this spark in my existence, dare I hope again,
I hear the calling, long promised love reaching out,
Intuition inside, must heed this beckoning call,

Perhaps my answer, my path of the return to felicity and joy,
Hesitation in confusion, so frozen in fear and uncertainty,
I’m searching within for answers, brow wet in sweat,
No-one to ask aid, none to reach out to,

I must, will answer the call, I take my first step home…

The Day After the Day After

As I put the dead tree in the garbage
My mind wonders over these past days
The glimmering twinkling lights
Now packed in boxes away

I wonder through a mind full of new memories
My heart warmed by the love that we share
Visions of faces, smiling and bright
As they dig through the treasure of gifts

The banter of voices, tallest tales told
A gathering of comfort and soul
Stories of yesterdays, once more brought out
More meaningful for already known

The lights may no longer twinkle
Brightly wrapped surprises now gone
But the treasures I hold are so real
These few blessed moments, together again

And knowing that I’m never truly alone……..

Mountain Wisdom

Spirit of the mountain,
Holding strength impartial
Roots planted deeply,
A part of the earth mother
Heights piercing the air,
Mount into sky above
Clouds dance from peak to peak,
Spiraling and spin
Hear my voice, my majestic friend
I’ve come to listen once again

When I’m blessed to walk,
Under your towering trees
To tread the paths,
In your sheltering shadow
When I feel troubled,
I know you to be there
Ever patient and respectful,
Offering the guidance I need

I too know now,
Why your tears do flow
Know well the pain
From the waste you see
A future almost written
By the lost and confused
An ending of an era
So much left to loose

Would that they learn to listen,
In time……
